UK Journal Day 8 (Travel Diary Day 46)
(Travel journal – strange-lands.com/daily/2012/08/28/smooth-water/)
I’m about to go and potentially buy a car. This is something blokes should know a lot about. I can pretend to know a lot about cars. I can nod and indicate understanding at the correct times, but auto
mobiles are an unknown element to me.
Everyone has an opinion on what type of car I should be buying. I’m the only one who hasn’t got a clue. My brother’s basically been holding my hand through the whole process.
I haven’t had much luck with them either. I once had a car that blew up on the motorway. A nice chap offered to tow me to a garage. I hooked my car to his tow-bar. He began driving. I forgot to put my keys in the ignition. The wheel locked-up. I drove straight into a lamppost. I’m an idiot.
On the other hand, I love driving. I’ve missed it a lot. I’ll probably enjoy it less knowing the price of petrol over here. In Indonesia it was 36 pence per litre. In England it’s about £1.30 per liter. Just typing those numbers is painful.

Here’s another shot from that lovely blue scene a few nights ago.
